Dermal filers are used to soften and contour any lines, folds and wrinkles that appear on the face. The most commonly used dermal filler is a synthesised hyaluronic acid. This gel- like solution is injected into the skin to add volume and creates a more youthful appearance. Areas commonly injected are nose to mouth lines (naso-labial lines/folds), lines around the mouth (peri-oral/smokers lines), lines between the brows (glabellar) and the lips.
There are a number of different dermal fillers on the market. Your aesthetic practitioner will be able to advise the most suitable product for your skin and your needs. If you have used a particular dermal filler previously and been happy with the outcome it may be wise to stay with that product. All products used in our clinics have outstanding safety results and have consistently demonstrated predictability and positive aesthetic outcome. We have highly skilled, expert, professional injectors to ensure the very best results.
These are the market leaders in hyaluronic acids. They all offer gentle improvements and once any swelling has subsided natural enhancement can be appreciated. Each product has different grades of gel for different areas to be treated. Each, for example, has its own dedicated lip product developed to give maximum longevity and beautifully natural results. All grades of all the ranges usually last 6-9 months. They are all fully biodegradable and will break down gradually over time. There are very few reported side effects with these products, bruising being the most common as with any injections. This is usually minimal and can be covered effectively with make up. You must mention to your practitioner if you are taking any blood thinning medications ie. asprin or warfarin as one would be at higher risk of bruising.
In the case of a lip treatment a local anaesthetic is administered. This will completely numb the mouth area, therefore the procedure should be pain free. It is usual for some swelling and redness to be present. This can take a number of days to subside in some cases up to two weeks. In view of this you may choose not to return to work after treatment.
Most other areas of the face are anaesthetised using a cream anaesthetic which usually works very effectively. There may be some discomfort but it is usually very bearable and shortlived. The skin may be a little red, but can be covered using clinical mineral make up, you should feel comfortable to return to work.
Prices vary depending on areas to be treated and use of more than one syringe. Discounts are offered on multiple syringes, however. Prices start at £150 for the treatment of fine lines.
