This is considered to be a superficial peel but deeper penetration can be achieved if the practitioner deems it necessary. ICP is composed of salicylic acid (beta hydroxy acid), hydroquinone and kojic acid (depigmenting agents) and phytonadione (vitamin K). It comes as a complete kit with take home products that are essential to the optimal outcome of this skin peel. It has an excellent safety profile.
This peel was created to treat pigmented skin. It is however a powerful treatment for photo aging (sun damaged skin), and acne prone skin. It can reduce the redness and inflammation often associated with acne lesions.
The skin is cleaned by the practitioner using a degreasing agent. The peel is then applied, it may tingle slightly after a few minutes, but it should not feel uncomfortable. Your practitioner will then advise how long to leave the peel on the skin, the timing is essential and you must remove the peel at the exact time your practitioner recommends.
The day after treatment your skin may be quite red, possibly a little tender and feeling quite tight. The skin will flake over the next few days, you will continue using products from your kit as instructed. After the first week the skin usually returns to normal, but will look noticeably improved. You will continue using the products for the next month as instructed.
It may be advisable to take the rest of the day off work, and some people may choose to have the treatment on a Friday to allow some recovery time over the weekend. Conventional make up may be applied. Your kit does contain a foundation with an SPF 50 that is recommended for use throughout the course of treatment. It is mandatory to use the supplied SPF at all times whilst having this treatment as your skin will be more sensitive to the sun.
